Juan Manuel López is a retired Puerto Rican professional boxer. He was born on January 30, 1983, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. López began boxing at a young age, and by the time he was 16 years old, he had already won the Puerto Rican Junior Olympics championship. He turned professional in 2005 and quickly established himself as a knockout artist in the featherweight division. López won his first world title in 2008, when he defeated Daniel Ponce de León to become the WBO featherweight champion. He went on to successfully defend his title four times before losing it to Orlando Salido in 2011. López retired from boxing in 2019 with a record of 37 wins (32 by knockout) and 6 losses. Throughout his career, he became a beloved figure in Puerto Rico and was known for his powerful left hook.
